God Picked You! Luke 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. In this season when we look at the story of the birth of Jesus, we marvel at the people God chose to bring about His ultimate gift of Jesus into the world. From Zacharias and Elizabeth, God chose a couple who was beyond the years of having children, yet His promise was that Elizabeth would have a son and Zacharias was to name him John which means Grace. Then not long after, God searches out Mary, a young virgin girl betrothed to Joseph to be the mother of Jesus. These are not the first times that God had chosen someone from a nondescript past, throughout the Old Testament we see it time and again and even Jesus in choosing the twelve disciples did not go according to tradition or man's wisdom. Oftentimes, God has a way of choosing people that others would never consider, in fact, He chooses people that would not even consider themselves. Isn't it funny that we disqualify ourselves based on standards that God does not use? In truth, life has a way of making us feel inadequate, daunted and even overwhelmed by its circumstances. It will often discourage us into believing that we don't matter or we are not valuable and if we stay there, it will not be God who disqualifies us, we will have disqualified ourselves. However, if we begin to set our focus on God and consider that He is in total control, it is there that we can reflect on what total control really means. According to Psalm 139 and Acts 17:26, God was in complete control with us being born, even down to the day, date, time, region and family. It is also there that we can consider the Ancient of Days as the orchestrator of the days. Every prophetic word God has spoken will undoubtedly come to pass and instead of having Jesus or the apostles and prophets of old alive today, God chose us to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth, to represent and to serve Him. We are His standard bearers in this hour! The world has need of us and we cannot defer to someone else when God has called and assigned us to the task at hand. He is sovereign and He alone knows the complete plan from beginning to end. It is within that grand plan that God handpicked you and I to live and declare in our unique individual ways the word of The Lord! It is in our dynamic ways that the diversity and depth of God is displayed. We are as special as the last puzzle piece being put in place, the level of satisfaction is not complete without that final step and the last piece is as significant and important as the first two pieces being locked together.

Furthermore, there are never two pieces of the puzzle that are exactly alike, even though they may appear to be similar, there exists

some nuances that limit their ability to be arbitrarily connected. Both pieces may be part of the setting which represents clouds and blue sky, but they cannot simply trade places though they both have the blue sky and white cotton like clouds as their image, such displacement will dramatically affect the whole puzzle. This is why we need to not only trust in God's sovereignty, but thank Him for His orchestration, even down to choosing us. He alone knows what He is doing and who He is choosing to do it with. As far as those feelings of being overwhelmed, daunted, unworthy or even forgotten, they never came from God, they are fiery darts from the enemy whose assignment is to deter us from faithfully believing that God is in total control. His thoughts are continually upon us. Psalm 8:4 says, What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? Just as God chose Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Samuel, David, Esther and Daniel to live and represent Him in their day and time, just as Jesus chose the twelve disciples and out of them, He took Peter, John and James with him to the mount of transfiguration, just as The Lord chose Saul on the road to Damascus, God is still completing His ultimate plan of salvation and we are His chosen people in this prophetic time to bear the name of Jesus. Never in a million years would we first choose God, it has been Him all along who has chosen us. In this season as we reflect and celebrate on the birth of Christ and all of those who had a role in it from Mary and Joseph to the shepherds and kings, be encouraged, knowing that you are part of a greater plan, a God plan. Hail, highly favored one, God picked you! Be blessed!
